The Domino® Directory is enabled for instant messaging, meaning that you can conduct an online chat directly from the Domino Directory.

The instant messaging Chat feature is available only if you have a HCL Sametime® server, and only for Microsoft™ Windows™ versions of Domino and Notes®.

From the People document, Group document, and from the Domino Directory itself there is a Chat option in the menu bar. Click Chat and choose from the following options:

• Chat with -- Open a chat with the person whose name is currently selected in the open document or directory.
• Add to Instant Contact List -- Add the selected person's name to an instant messaging contact list that you choose.
• Show/Hide Contact List -- Toggles between displaying the names in the contact list and hiding the list.
