CONFIGURING
You can configure a new structural object class defined to inherit from another structural object class defined in the directory.
About this task
To specify that a new structural object class defined using the HCL Domino® Directory inherit from another structural object class defined in the directory, insert the $xxxInheritableSchema subform for the superior object class into the $xxxInheritableSchema subform of the subordinate object class. For example, you can create the structural object class renovationsLaserPrinter that inherits attributes from the structural object class renovationsPrinter.
You can also configure a new structural object class to inherit from a default object class in the schema that is defined by a form.
Procedure
1. Make sure that you are working in a copy of the Domino Directory template (RENOVATIONNAMES.NTF for example) and that you have Designer or Manager access in the ACL.
2. From Domino Designer, open RENOVATIONNAMES.NTF.
3. In the navigation pane, select Shared Elements and then Subforms.
4. Open the $xxxInheritableSchema subform for the subordinate object class. For example, if you want the renovationsLaserPrinter object class to inherit from the renovationsPrinter object class, open the $renovationsLaserPrinterInheritableSchema subform.
5. Click the Inheritable tab, and do the following:
b. Select the InheritableSchema subform for the superior object class. For example, select the $renovationsPrinterInheritableSchema subform if you want the renovationsLaserPrinter object class to inherit from the renovationsPrinter object class.
c. Click OK.
