ADMINISTERING

Setting the event severity and suppression time settings

You can assign an event severity to an event, or to specify a new event suppression time on the Server Addin Task Event document.

About this task

Event severity levels are listed and explained in this table:

Table 1. Severity levels
Severity levelMeaning
FatalImminent system crash
FailureSevere failure that does not cause a system crash
Warning (high)Loss of function requiring intervention
Warning (low)Performance degradation
NormalStatus messages

Event handlers can be created at your discretion, and they take action when specific events occur. Suppression time is used to limit the frequency of how often an event handler runs. After an event occurs and its associated event handler runs, if the event occurs again, the event handler does not run until after the suppression time expires. An event handler defines the action that Domino® takes when a specific event occurs.

Complete these steps to set the event severity or the suppression time:

Procedure

1. From the Domino Administrator, click the Configuration tab.

2. Expand the Monitoring Configuration -> Names Messages (Advanced) view.

3. Open one of the Event Messages views.

4. Open the event whose settings your are editing, and then click Edit Document.

5. Do one or both of these:

6. Click Save and Close.
